This is a nice lesser known climb near to the Tourmalet and other cols. There isn''t much traffic because cars have to pay a toll (but not bikes). Most of the work is in the first few k out of Gedre and in the last few k of the climb. Be sure to save some energy for once you pass the toll booth (about 10k past Gedre), and especially for once you pass the restaurant near the top, as you will be able to see the 9+% switchbacks that await you. The views are very nice on the way up and at the top. There is also a 2k side road about half way up that goes to the Barrage Gloriette if you like very narrow roads and 15% gradients!
