I climbed the route as a medium interval and it was ok . the road was in bad condition and very bumby , which probebly it because it is a work road for marble mine. When you are on top, then there is a wonderful view of the open marble mine and uoy should look at it for some minutes . There is also a refuge that require courage , if you want to ride up there. Rocky road . MTB or CX are preferable. the descent is dangerous because the road is poor and the holes are difficult to see . Be careful. The view is worth the trip.

I hired a road bike from Forte Dei Marmi and cycled to Carrara via Massa and then up to Campo Cecina. The weather changed from sunny at the start of the climb to foggy and cold at the top, Campo Cecina has a marble quarry at the summit which is where I stopped after a what seemed like a very long climb. There are several small villages and vantage points on the way up, on a clear sunny day the views must be spectacular.
The descent was great as was the ride back to Forte Dei Marmi along the coast roads. Recommended ride.
