My first ever proper climb, quite steep (I think over 15%) at a few short points but with some flat bits to catch your breath on. Profile doesn''t do it justice. A few nice hairpins. Very scenic; starts by loch morlich and climbs through pine forest before reaching open hillside over halfway up with excellent views down to loch Morlich and over to Aviemore. Feels quite high up above the loch. Plus finishes at a ski station, just like many famous climbs. Cafe at top. If you cycle up you can ride the funicular to the top of the mountain for free. Traffic not too bad but sometimes trucks go up it (presumably delivering goods to the facilities). There is a one way system in place for the last bit up. Highly recommended to climb if nearby.

A proper climb which is made worse by the howling gale you get, depending on which way you get it, you can get up it quickly, with several sections in fantastic tailwind, or it can be a nightmare, with just one section sheltered. 1km to go it looks to flatten out, but it doesnt and plays tricks on you. 34x23 on a TT bike is ok. raced up this as part of Cairngorm Cycling festival. average speed 11 mph for climb.
