I did this climb in 2007 as part of a tour of the north Pennines. Began the day in Middleton-in-Teesdale and finished in Hawes. The area is beautiful, especially around Thwaite (Swaledale). Going from one dale to the next is tough going - short sharp climbs and steep descents - but very rewarding. It was one of my best days cycling, without a doubt.
