I live in the Chamonix Valley hence this is a local climb for me. Out and back from the Chamonix Valley we have the warm up climb of the Col de Montets before joining the Dam road just after entering Switzerland. Beware construction traffic - I was up there last week and with some work going on with the Dam there are the occasional lorry on the road, but generally after Finault the traffic is light. The views are amazing back to the Mont Blanc Massif. There are long switchbacks. Just when you think you are near the top, it switches back again! Friendly cafe at the top open in the summer months.
