Arizona Snowbowl - N Fort Valley Road

This is a very nice, European-like climb. Starting out in a pine forest north of Flagstaff, Arizona, it climbs at a very steady, but never steep, grade, ending at a ski station at timberline. The road is fairly well kept, and traffic tends to be fairly light summer through autumn. The weather is very nice in this part of Arizona, rarely too hot, and I was able to climb it into late October without problem. The climb can easily be paired with a long ride north of Flagstaff on Route 180, or other roads on the north side of Flagstaff. The challenge of the climb is altitude, which tops out at 2837m, or 9,307, coupled with the 10km length, is sure to give you a workout. In pro cycling rankings, the climb would probably be a Catagory 1 climb.
