Paterberg - Kluisbergen

The Paterberg in Kluisbergen was climbed for the first time by the Ronde van Vlaanderen (Tour of Flanders) in 1986 and wil be climbed for the 19th time in 2006. The road is paved with cobblestones and you climb from 32 to 80 meters height for a length of only 350meters. That makes an average % of 12,5% with a maximum gradient of 20%.

The Paterberg is situated in East Flanders and belongs to the Vlaamse Ardennen . Starting from Kluisbergen, the Paterberg ascent is 0.38 km long. Over this distance, you climb 48 heightmeters. The average percentage thus is 13.7 %.

Climbed this on a freezing cold, rainy day in March while doing the RVV route. The cobbles were so slippery that I fell twice, then had to walk up because I couldnt start pedaling again. Steep little climb which left me with great memories-never before or since have I fallen while climbing!
