I had intended to climb the Portet dAspet from the east, but our route changed and I came up the western ascent, whose profile I had not previewed. The first 10k were quite flat, and not knowing what lay ahead, I over-reached a bit. Big surprise after the Casertelli monument, when the road went straight up for the final 4k! Lovely ride, with rewarding views at the top.
